On March 2-3, 1942, a big pogrom took place in the Minsk ghetto, five thousand Jews, including children from the orphanage, were killed.
To commemorate this date, we have launched the first joint Centropa IBB Minsk Lesson Plan Competition on “Teaching 20th century Jewish history in Belarus”. We invite teachers from Belarus to submit lesson plans on how to teach 20th century Jewish history and the Holocaust using Centropa´s multimedia film about Elena Drapkina, a former prisoner of the Minsk ghetto (to be found on https://pamjat.centropa.org/films/)
Criteria
– use Centropa´s film about Elena Drapkina
– focus not only on the Holocaust, but also on Jewish life in Minsk before the Holocaust
-use the lesson plan template provided by Centropa (see below for the link)
– historical accuracy
Language: Belarusian, Russian or English
Awards for winning projects
1st prize: 150€
2nd prize: 100€
3rd prize : 50€
All materials will be reviewed by an international jury. The winners will be announced in late February, and invited to present their project at our international online training seminar for Russian, German and Belarusian educators in March 2021.
