This photograph was taken in Leningrad in 1950. At that time I was a college student. I had witnessed the end of the war near Danzig.

In the beginning of August 1945 I arrived in Leningrad. I got demobilized in the summer of 1946 and entered the Shipbuilding College. Having finished the 2nd year, I went to work, because my stipend was not enough for a living. I worked at a design office, and it was not easy to combine this with my studies. During the war I forgot much of what I knew at school, and it was necessary to study hard. I graduated from the College with distinction.

I was invited with young specialists to work on a new topic: the creation of the submarine fleet of the USSR. So I went to the Central Design Office #16, where I worked for about 40 years. It was the one and only employment of my life, therefore I retired on pension in 1989 from the Design Office.
